Learning from Children.

Hey everyone,

Just a quick post for today. I was thinking yesterday that we have so much to learn from children. We so often get wrapped up in our hectic and busy lives and forget about the simplicity of what our lives were like 5 years ago. I'm not asking for you to try and turn back time here, because we all know that's not possible. But what I'm saying, is that instead of looking at everything in crazy, complex ways we can look at things with an easier, simpler approach. I think if we step back and think things through with a clear mind, we can make conclusions and feel more at peace with those decisions.

Happy Monday!

Hypocrites.

Hey everyone,
I hope you're all doing well! It was a little chilly outside today where I am, but it's warming up and I'm pretty happy about that.
The idea for this blog post came to me just as I put in a pair of earrings. A little weird, I know, but hey! it works.

So, do any of own a cross necklace? A purity ring? I don't own either of them, but I do have cross earrings, which are the the earrings that I just put on. I was thinking about how we wear things like this, that symbolize our love for God and our promises to Him, but so often we forget about them and we're rude to people, gossip and just be flat out mean. Now, what do you think the message is that we're sending out to people that aren't christians? It's okay to say we love God and we value Jesus' teachings, but we talk trash about people and completely contradict ourselves? That's being what I call hypocritical.

So I ask you guys to think about the message you're sending out to people when you wear God on your face but don't wear God in your heart. When you say you love Him but go against everything Jesus stands for. It's kind of powerful, isn't it? And the scary part is, is that we do it alot.

Happy Thursday!

Quote.

Hey everyone.

I'm doing a short post today. I found this quote and I really love it.

Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it.
Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it.
Hatred darkens life; love illumines it.
-Martin Luther King, Jr.

I think it's really true and that it paints a beautiful picture in my mind. How do you guys look at life? Do you hate it some days? Love it other days? I'm hot and cold about my life sometimes, but I never hate it. Our lives are treasures and they're extremely precious. As human beings it's normal to have doubts about things and not like everything that's put on our plate, but we have to deal with it, right? It's the things we don't like that make us stronger and into the people we are today.

Talk to God about it. We're never really A+ students when it comes to God, right? We mess up and make mistakes, but God knows that. And He's there to talk to you about it. Never be discouraged from having a bad day or having things go wrong. It's normal and it's bound to happen. But I challenge you guys to be aware of when you think negative thoughts that can be toxic to your relationship with God and the people around you. When we become conscious of the thoughts and the remarks we make, we generally become more aware of the things that come out of our mouth, right? Try it.

Happy Wednesday! :)

Peace.

Hey everyone,

I haven't been on in a while, so I've got some catching up to do. A little over a week since my last post, but I just haven't had the time to sit down and blog. BUT, I'm blogging today, so I hope that's good enough.

I had a family member of mine die yesterday. My father and my mother were both really close with him, and it has taken a toll on their stress levels. My dad's a busy but family oriented guy, and this weekend was a huge stretch for him. He hardly got any sleep, his mom was in the hospital and his uncle died. Let's just say it wasn't exactly a peachy keen weekend.

BUT, I'm really glad that God was there for me, my family members and everyone else that has to deal with this. I was thinking yesterday than even though my uncle isn't here anymore, he's with God now. And that's absolutely fantastic. I just wanted to say that if any of you have ever lost someone special to you, they're in a much better place than Earth. And I know it's hard to comprehend that, but it's the truth. They left their 'shell', their disposable body, and the real, living part of them is with the Lord. God didn't have anything else for them here. It was their time to go.

So, I hope all of you may look at death a little differently. Our life on Earth isn't forever, but our life in Heaven is forever when we have God in our hearts, right?

P.S,
Every new post I do, I'm going to be changing the quote at the top. Check it out!

Happy Monday. :)

All About You.

Hey everyone.

I just realized that every month, I've done exactly 8 posts. :S Is that what, on average, 2 a WEEK? I have to say I'm really sorry for that. I promised you guys that I would try to post every other day, but I think we can all see that that didn't really go as planned. BUT, I'm going to stop saying sorry, because it's in the past and I can only move forward. SO. I have something kind of interactive for everyone today. Not sure how well it will work out, but I know I love to do it so hopefully you guys will like it too.

On Facebook, and on Blogger too, there's a space where you can write something about yourself, and list your favourite music, movies, books, quotes and all of that jazz. How many of you actually fill that out, depending on if you have Facebook or not? I know I do. I'm that type of person that HAS to fill that out. Probably because I love reading that on other peoples' profiles. But, I realized today that doing that is a really fantastic opportunity to assess ourselves and realize what we like and don't like. SO, my challenge for you guys today, is to write your own 'All About Me" blurb. It doesn't have to be on Facebook or something, because I understand security issues, but maybe just in your notebook/diary or even a piece of paper. Write about you. Write your favourite bands, your favourite novels and your favourite sports. If you want to go a step deeper, even write WHY you like them. If you'd like, you can go to my Facebook page or my blogger profile (on the side of the page) and read mine for ideas.

I promise you this isn't a bad experience. It helps you step back and look at how you've grown over the months/years. I know 3 years ago, all I listened to was pop music. Now, I can hardly stand the majority of it. I used to love the peppy, sugary voices of the girls and guys on the radio, but now I yearn for low key, falsetto, deep and inspiring lyrics from indie and undiscovered bands. Kind of cool, eh?

Maybe do this when you've got an extra 20 minutes lying around. I know, an extra 20 minutes in a teenagers' life? Not a huge chance of that happening. ;) But try it. It's really great.

Happy Sunday everyone.

Talking to People about Talking to God.

Hey everyone.

I hope you all are doing well. My week's gone by fast, and I'm thankful for that! There's really only 2 months of school left for me, then the summer! It's kind of funny because I love school, but this year I'm finding more and more that I want it to come to a close sooner rather than later. BUT, that's not what I'm talking about today. So, I shall get to the topic.

I'm sure you all have friends that you know for a fact don't believe in God. I know I do. I'm thankful my two best friends are my fellow siblings in Christ, but I do have friends that don't believe there's something bigger than us. SO, how do we talk to those people about the biggest part of our life without sounding preachy and demanding and rude? It's not easy, but it can be done. I challenge you guys to think about one of your friends you know who isn't a christian. Have you tried to talk to them about it before? Have they tried to talk to you about religion and God before? Chances are, if they've brought it up, they're curious, and that's always a good sign. I'm going to give you guys some tips about talking to people about God who may not be as perceptive and open as you'd like.

1. Remember that when you talk to someone, it's all in the way you say it and phrase it. Your tone of voice and your word choice determines alot of the time, how people will listen to what you have to say. So, make sure you don't come across as hostile and closed off to their opinions when talking.
2. Listen to their points of view. You expect them to listen to you, so why should you cut them off when they're in the middle of a sentence? Respect is a major component.
3. Try not to use Christ, Our Lord and things like that too much. Sometimes people get freaked out when they hear Jesus in every sentence. When people aren't christians, it's very easy for them to feel like they're being bombarded with 'God talk.' By all means use His name, but use it in the best context possible.
4. If they don't want to talk about it, be respectful of their decision. Maybe God's working on their heart already.
5. Ultimately, be their friend. No matter what they believe and no matter how many times you talk to them about God, you still need to be a friend to them. They may not share the same values as you, and that can make things hard sometimes, but as christians we need to love and accept everybody.

I hope this has helped you guys a little bit with talking to people about God and your faith. :) It's not easy and we feel vulnerable and judged sometimes, but it's all for the glory of God, right?

TGIF!

End of Lent.

Hey everyone!

Another week since my last post. :S I'm really sorry about that. I haven't exactly been in the best spirits lately. I've been pretty sad and down for the past couple of days, so even when I had time I never blogged.

BUT, Lent's over! I can't believe it! On Sunday in church I felt like, Wow. I survived and I learned so much. I have to say at the beginning I didn't know if I'd make it. I've got a couple of questions for you guys.

1. Do you think now that Lent's over, you're going to keep on with your new habits and try to keep heading forward in a positive direction?
2. Are you looking at God in a different light?

Nothing too deep or drastic, just some food for thought. I know that on Sunday night, I realized some things about myself. I've decided I'm going to start running again. It used to be a massive part of my life but I stopped a year ago.
I hope everyone's long weekend was amazing and full of celebration!

Jesus lives! :)
Happy Tuesday guys.
