Forgiveness: Do We Deserve It?

Hey all,

How's school going? Hopefully it's going well. I have 2 tests tomorrow, which I have studied long and hard for. So fingers crossed I pass them!
I got the idea for this blog yesterday when I was reading a book in class. The book is called The Chrysalids by John Wyndham, and it's kind of a science fiction/fantasy novel. I have to read it for school, and I'm usually not a fan of sci-fi, but this book is actually pretty good so far. If you've read it, comment below and let me know if you liked it or not.
So, where I was going with this. In this book, there was a quote that really stuck out to me. Here it is:

"Pray, you wretched boy for a forgiveness you do not deserve, but which God, in His mercy, may yet grant you."

Reading this in class, I must admit I almost cried. I thought, How could anyone believe that God would not forgive you? We have a loving, all forgiving God. Why would anyone ever think something different of it? This book was published in the 1950's, but God hasn't changed since then right? He's been the same along. It's us that has changed.
Sometimes I wonder if God really forgives me, but I know deep in my heart He does. Sometimes I wonder if I've run out of chances, if I've screwed up one too many times. But then I remember that God loves me more than I could ever know and I know I am never a lost cause in His all knowing eyes.
So I ask you guys today if you ever think that God doesn't forgive you. If you have ever spoken to yourself the same way the father spoke to his son in the quote. God will forgive you more times than you can wrap your head around. You have to realize, though, what you've done wrong and try not to make the same mistake again.
Forgiveness is forever.

Happy Thursday guys!
